I am using the moment of silence to announce what will (most likely) be hosted from my end. I hope to see some of you join!

Moonlit Revelry

The Venetian Republic in the 17th century was, to say the least, a fascinating place and the experience of the Venetian Court was quite unique compared to other great monarchies. A centre of power, culture, art and social life, with more liberties and allowances than anyone cared to admit. That said, what brings you to Venice is beside the point (more or less) - but what will it take for you to show up for a private masquerade hosted under the veil of night?

”Moonlit Revelry” might be quite on the nose, but it should also be a fun contest set in 17th century Venice Republic - love, lust, fun, games and more. Your person will, by luck, wit or reputation, receive an invite to a party at a newly built palace just outside the city. And then, the story begins.

Genre: historical fiction, romance, drama, potential for soapy & fun
Hosted: late September, early October (hopefully)

The Month of Love

Premise:

It is the month of Christmas when an unforseen event forces you to return back to your hometown which you have left years ago to start your successful career in the big city. Suddenly you find yourself thrown back into old memories and come face to face with your high school sweetheart... are you going to give in the old feelings that coming back to surface or do you choose to stay in the comfort of your new life?

Genre: Romance, maybe a bit Drama, hopefully soapy, cutesy and sweet

Hosted: December... seeing as it has a Christmas Theme

Exciting Schoggo! As someone who gets unreasonably irritated when stores bring out the christmas stuff before november has even come around, reading your post made me google christmas movies but I'll patiently wait until december to channel all the holiday romcom tropes and hopefully I'll have the time for it too!

I'm the of the kind that really enjoys these writes with you all, few or many. And being in desperate need of some distraction, I'm excited for some Venice romps as well, Zara, no stress though, when the stars of real life align to make it happen /modules/forum/img/smilies/epingle.gif And for that something of yours Nina, if that is still in the works. I have cheer to go around for all.

I had been fiddling with some stuff of my own for some creative outlet but with things coming up now I might save it for next year, or depending on how we are feeling sneak in a one-shot/casting in november.

Love the Christmas story, watched The Holiday as background noise today, I clearly crave some holiday magic!

And Venice is almost done - got the approval for the longer rounds, what do you think - would it slow you down or be perfect?

(Formatting & making banners as we speak)

Hello there !

Hmm, sorry for the question but I'm reading here from time to time and... How does one play, exactly ? I've roleplayed on forums but it seems a little different and while I might be interested (too late for the current one, my bad) I don't want to get it wrong if I'm to join. From what I picked, one is to craft a character and mostly play that one but interpret still a bit of the others that the "master" have described with the prompt given, and we walk from scene to scene. Is that someting like that or am I wildly mistaken ?

I'll be reading you for your romances to come in the CLS !

You've got the gist of what happens in the SWC, and aside from completely disregarding what the host writes either in round or about their paper people there really is no "right" or "wrong" way to do things. Some contests will have specific parameters like a mystery to solve, some will have all of the contestants playing in the same world (as opposed to in a bubble universe of their own) so there can be a need to vie for the attention of the extras, and some (like the current one) are meant to be pure soapy fun. The best part though is that everyone is really chill and understanding so hosts will answer questions if you have them. Please join in the next one you see if you have time!

Yes! Please, join when you have the chance if you want, we'd love to have you!

You as a writer create a character to bring into the world/setting and plot/premise of the contest which the host put up. Some are more plot heavy and other more free play, but the host usually always provide a gallery of characters and happenings which you can use to build your story around.

It's a bit like an ongoing prompt where each round advance the story and you receive some new events to write around and the host usually give you a bit of info on how the extras/other characters you have interacted with view you or how they will interact with you going forward.

We all write differently and have different flavour to our writings. I can bring my silly little fantasies to life with some support to write against and I get to read other stories approaching the story in a way I could never have imagine, which is why I really love it!And like Dare said, I'm sure any host or writer would gladly answer any qs you have or offer support if you reach out /vendor/beemoov/forum/../../../public/forum/smilies/smile.png

I believe everything has been said already, but let me say it once more: you should definitely join! Everyone started somewhere and we were all new at this once. We're all mostly chatty and would love to help, so joining is the only thing left for you to do.

Looking forward to watching your imagination run wild!
