Part 9 The feast
Diane felt restricted in her blue-black dress it was just too long. Yet it was the only dress she really liked, so nothing to it she supposed. Nothing else to do then enjoy the night.
She looked once again in her clutch to make sure she had her ticket she received at the door, the party was a big thing. A lot of people associating with each other. Looking at the ticket for the third time the night. Diane did wonder however why there was a number close to her name she may find that out later tonight.
Diane was grabbing a glass of champagne from a waiter when someone spoke up behind her.
"Caroline was right you are prettier as blond," Diane turned around surprised that someone talked to her was it with her, however.
"Excuse me?" Diana asked to be sure he had talked to her.
"You are pretty," the guy replied amused and Diane blushed and looked at her wine glass.
"Thank you," Diane frowned pretty sure she recognises the voice but not sure from where.
She looked up again and saw the green eyes than it hit her.
"You were the guy from the computer room," Diane may have spoken a little louder than necessary some eyes turned their way.
The guy just laughed when Diane tried to hide her blush, she hated to be in middle of attention if she had just embarrassed herself.
"Hey! No need for that and call me Earnie, Diane," the smile of the guy was cute.
"You know my name?" Diane was surprised.
"Yeah had to know it if you failed the mission I was supposed to get you away safely but you did great. I told everything to Caroline to bad I didn't get your number you were gone really fast," Diane chuckles at that and thanked him once again.
Diane asked him some more question about the mission and Caroline while Earnie asked her more about some private things they both answered honestly and were so in their conversation that they almost didn't hear the announcement that dinner was served.
"After you," Diane just chuckles at shook her head at his antics but made her way to the delicious looking table, Earnie sat next to her.
When finally sitting down and about to tuck in an alarm blares out making everyone freeze.
Diane sees Caroline and three others looking confused at each other before one stands up.
"Come on people get up and go to your room number on your ticket we don't have enough time get a move on!" After the guy has spoken and pointed to a corridor, everyone stands up and goes to the room in haste I got number 1 making my way to my number room I almost trip but Earnie grabs my arm.
"What's your room number?" Earnie asked when he got Diane on steady feet once again.
"1," Diane responded simply.
"Okay, follow me," and that's what Diane did but she also did wonder why Earnie's hand was trembling.
Part 10 The room
Diane and Earnie stepped into the room and 2 sets of eyes looked up at them. One of a girl with dark skin and a big hairdo it suited her adorable face, though. The other was a guy who looked so relaxed it seemed like he did this forever but talking to Earnie, Diane knew that he may have been recruited 2/3 weeks before she did yet she did have respect for his relaxed state it made her relax.
"Hello," Diane greeted and sat down with Earnie, who's hand was still trembling.
"Hey," the girl greeted back the guy just gave Diane a nod and looked back to the door.
"Do you have any ideas was going on? Did Caroline tell you anything?" Diane asked Earnie but he just shook her head.
Diane looked at the guy but he's eyes seemed drawn to the door the girl looked at Earnie and me so I also asked her the question.
"No I don't know either," the girl replied but she seemed to have an idea.
The guy turned his head and looked at us and then huffed but before anyone could ask anything the door opened once again in entered a redhead with the biggest smile ever seen.
"Hi people I'm Cindy Jones," the redhead said sitting closest to the door.
"Hello, the name is Diane Webbs," Diane replied the girl with a smile.
"Hey you can call me, Charli, Charli Conners" Diane could finally put a name to the dark girl.
"Tom Riley," the guy said not interested at all it seemed.
Earnie kept quiet till Diane nudged his side.
"Ow, hello Earnie Tennant," with that he zoned off again it seemed Diane worried he may not be good with a pressure situation.
Diane also used to be terrible with a pressure situation and out of habit as child squeezed his hand and he did it right back so Diane was sure he was still here and not too much in his own world a good spy indeed.
-------_-------_--------
"So Cindy any idea what is going on?" Diane asked the final person in the group it seemed because no one had entered for the past 20 minute.
"No, but properly just another test," Cindy replied with a raised shoulder.
"You think so too," Charli replied with a nod kinda like confirming she agreed totally.
Diane wasn't so sure it was a simple test seeing the confused look on Caroline was disturbing the woman knew everything such an expression shouldn't be on her face.
Tom huffed at the two girls but kept quiet, looking straight at me I gave him a shake. To his silent question. "Do you agree?"
"We should be careful if it's a test or not we will need a plan," Diane spoke up and she received nods in agreement and a squeeze as encouragement.
"Let's start with getting to know each other work wise what's your expertise?"
The next two hours they got to know each other better till Cindy stood up to look trough the door and see if she could escape the room to go to the restroom real fast but what she saw made her shake.
"Guys, Dawn has been taking over," Cindy turned to look at all the surprised faces.
Part 11 The plan
"We need to head to the roof," was the first thing Tom said and the longest sentence.
All in all, everyone agreed with him and nodded.
We all knew that all escape routes were on the rooftop of the building be.
"The plan is simple Cindy and Earnie will leave first, you search for the best way to the rooftop for all of us. Diane and I will go after you do we will grab an enemy for interrogation before coming to the roof and Charli look for some enemy information on the computer, Cindy will let you know when to move if she does, go immediately." Tom finished the plan Diane frowned was this going to go okay?
Diane got a squeeze from Earnie and looked up at Tom nodding this will work we are spies after all.
With that, the tasks were divided.
Diane grabbed outfits for all of them Charli refused, however, saying that jeans, pullover, jacket, pepper spray and knife would be fine, she went back to her computer screen right after doing her part of the job finding enemy info.
Diane did ask her for info on a high commander or soldier when she received that Diane made a map in her head Tom's idea to kidnap one Soldier wasn't bad but they needed someone with information a higher ranking someone.
Cindy was in a stakeout mode even though she complained how boring it was. Tom made her look for walkie-talkies after.
She didn't find any but Earnie helped her fix three, one for them, one for Tom and Diane and last for Charli.
Charli set up something for Cindy but Diane didn't have a clue what but it seemed that Cindy had because she grinned after Charli explained a little after that she left the room followed by Earnie who gave Diane a final glaze before closing the door.
"We are next," Tom told me I nodded but grabbed his arm before we left
"Tom wait I got a name we need a high commander to get the best information," Diane told him.
"Hmm, good thinking Diane also know where he is?" Tom asked me and I nodded.
"Yes, but we only got 15 minutes to get there," Diane told him and he looked down at her boots.
"You may wanna change those then," Tom said pointing at the boots I had loved.
"Not going to happen," Diane bit out at him before he could answer however Cindy's voice sounded through the walkie.
"Tom, Diane, Time to leave," Diane put her weapon behind her jacket and followed Tom out of the room.
Part 12 The Escape
They made their way to the office in 8 minutes of the 15 they could have been faster.
It had nothing to do with Diana's boots... Okay, that's a lie but every time Diane looks at Tom he has a smug face which only makes Diane more stubborn in the fact that she shouldn't have worn the boots.
This is what happened:
They were walking side by side walking a little faster than normal but still walking seeing that some soldiers came in the opposite direction.
"Hey, you!" Diane and Tom both looked at the head soldier.
"What?" Tom asked but the soldier was looking in Diane direction strictly.
"Don't you know the proper dress code?" He asked Diane.
Diane swallowed before responding.
"Of course I do," Diane replied not so sure about herself.
"Then why are you wearing those," the head soldier pointed at the boots.
"I like them," Diane answers honestly.
"I like them," the soldier replied in a high pitch voice making all the soldiers and even Tom laugh.
"We are soldiers here! not a woman, damn how I hate woman in this job do you want to do your nails too," the soldier looked at her with so much dislike yet lust.
Diane was about to respond with a harsh comment but Tom cut her off.
"We need to be going sir, duty calls," Tom said but got interrupted.
"Wait up you, make sure she changes those shoes," the head soldier looked at Diane's boots once again with a dirty look before walking away with other soldiers.
"Yes, of course, sir," Tom said and dragged an angry Diane behind him.
"I told you so," was all he said while Diane was fuming.
So that it's what happened and yes Diane is still sour about it.
They walked into the room to see Commander Pite he should be able to tell them everything about the enemies.
"You are late!" Was the first thing he shouted but he was looking outside.
"Yes, I know sir we will be leaving immediately," Diane replied and looked around the room for cameras she nodded at Tom when she didn't see any.
"Just grab my bag's, I really hate this kind-a-off low jobs," he huffed still looking out of the window.
Tom grabbed him in a chook hold until he passed out.
While Diane searches his bags and found a normal soldier uniform.
"We need to change him in normal soldier clothes," Diane had thought about it transporting a normal soldier would be better explained.
"What why?" Tom was confused but Diane didn't have time to explain right now.
"Just trust me," was what she replied instead.
Tom signed but did what he was told by Diane and undressed and dressed the commander as a normal soldier once again.
After that Diane walkie talked Cindy for updates she receives the safest but also longest route, Tom sighed and threw the commander over his shoulder.
"Let's go!" Diane nodded at him and they left.
-------_-------_--------
"What are you two doing," one soldier asked them while another was observing them.
They had walked 10 minutes already and they were almost at the stairway.
Diane took a deep breath and told them what they wanted to know.
"He was hit on the head were taking him to see a doc, we need to know who did it as soon as possible," Tom nodded at what Diane had come up with the soldiers looked at each other and nodded also.
"Okay, hurry up and get back to work after," the soldier said.
"Yes sir," Diane and Tom said in sync.
They had walked some stairs when another soldier stopped them.
"What are you two doing?" He asked.
"We need to take him to a doc, we need to know who attacked him as soon as possible," Diane replied once again.
They both started to walk but the guy stepped in there way.
"Wait for a second, why are two low profiles like you taking care of this?" The soldier spat out.
"I will take it over from you two," He walked up to them, Tom and Diane kept calm.
Diane gave Tom a look and he nodded.
In a swift motion, Diane had her gun on him.
"Down! Face on the ground," the soldier did immediately what was told.
"You won't get away with this," Diane rolled her eyes and slam the back of her gun to his temple making him pass out.
"Let's get moving," Tom grunted out the commander must be heavy.
"Where almost there," Diane replied and with that, they walked the last steps to the roof.
Stepping on the rooftop was a relief Tom dropped the commander who made a grunt notice but was still out cold.
"Really, Cindy the longest route," Tom grumbled and stretched his shoulder muscles.
"It was better than for you to have to explain yourself all the time," Cindy countered and looked at the door once again.
Diane looked around and saw more groups but in her own group, Charli was missing.
"Charli?" Diane asked worriedly.
"She's coming," Cindy replied simply.
And Diane nodded sitting down.
"You did well," Diane smiled.
"You did too," Diane tells him squeezing his hand which isn't shaking anymore.
"I only was Cindy's bodyguard," Earnie replies simply and Diane frowns.
Before Diane could answer, however, the roof door opens again and Charli comes on the roof making Diane release a breath.
The group was complete but what now?
Done
