The moment of truth has arrived. Who will be our champions shall be revealed.

As stated, the names added into the randomiser, are only of those who have  a story for R1 in due time. It’s only fair that those who end in time, get to have some advantage in a contest.

The names put in the randomiser are following: Leta, Acel, Freya, Zion, Rolf, Lena, Dare, Jordan, Niklaus, Nela, James, Rey, Blaise, Sidh

I wanted to film the randomisation, but I don’t think I succeeded. -.-

Let’s give a round of applause for our champions before sending them off into life-threatening situations. What’s more fun than putting a young wizard into perils?!

The time span the round covers is a month – it ends the day before the first task.

This is the last round of PART I of the contest. Sadly I have my master thesis defense within the next few weeks so Part II should (ideally) come shortly after, somewhen in September.
Part two will start with an impression of the last rounds in Part I, so write what you can, so you can get detailed feedback on it.
In part two, I will be throwing in some personalised plots, based on interactions. All of them will be optional, of course.

All those who finish part one, will get a banner and automatically enter part II. The rest will have to catch up with their stories if they wish to continue.

ROUND II REQUIREMENTS:
- outfit for the choosing of the champions, let’s make it semi-formal or uniform(y)
- story: interactions with characters or development of your own character and their story
- interests: up to 3 (and you should use them in your story)


IMPRESSIONS

Some have put people in their interests but had no interaction with them. Once you do write your interaction with them PM me so I can write the impressions ASAP.

I put them all in the same snippet to connect it together, so search for names in bold.

Impressions

Jordan, Niklaus, Nela

“Control your cat, Nik,” Jordan carries the cat by its scruff as it’s making a sound of contempt even if its unable to move the way she would if biology didn’t make life easier for mumma cats by relaxing the whole kitten’s body when held by the scruff. He drops the cat onto the boys chest and it stops making that ghastly sound.
“I can’t, she the spawn of Satan,” he sighs.
“You’ve got to stop calling your cat that, people might misunderstand,” Nela barged into the room, as if she’s not even bothered by the guys around there.
“If he didn’t name the cat after half a year, I doubt he ever will,” Jordan assures her.
“It’s name is Kitten,” Nik shrugs, not really caring about it and surprisingly enough, nobody bothered to ask him about the name, not even the Durmstrang girl, Lena, who seemed to be very interested in his cat, who did not stand anyone else but him. Although he found her attempts of trying to lure his cat into a game somewhat amusing, even if it was never going to happen. If that cat never learnt to like Jordan or Nela, it was pretty certain it wouldn't like anyone. But it was fun to watch, for all three of them.
“Talk about something else rather than my cat all the time,” he adds, aggravated, recalling the stress of the day when the cat managed to trip not one, but three people. He could, however, see the silver lining in the whole incident since he got a nice-looking book from it from Jude. He tilts his head and grabs the book as his cat is still busy sprawling on his chest. He doesn't repair his books by magic, because he's just used to having them worn-out like that and thinks it might mean he's embarrassed of his poorness, which he isn't, but he seems to feel oddly happy about holding a book  that doesn't have a coffee or whatnot spill all over the text he's supposed to read. It's nice having nice things, but his bubble of thought gets distracted.

„Is Freya anything you imagined her to be?“ Nela jumps onto Jordan's bed, earning a few more curious glances before they continue to pretend to ignore her presence.
„No,“ he replies honestly, „I thought she's be two metres, three-winged closet wide, classic growing-up-in-the-cold giant of a woman,“ he grins in a joke.
„But she turned out to be a 1,60 pretty midget that uses skin lotion,“ she grins as the boy ties to push her to the border of the bed, to gez some place to  lie down as well.
„She looks sweet,“ Niklaus, „look wise she reminds me of your sister,“ he adds and flips a page in the Potions handbook, noticing four eyes are glued to him in slight disgust, „I did not intend to make this weird,“ he now realises, „She's just tiny and blond and innocent looking,“ he adds with a shrug, trying to mend the weird sister comment.
„It's a good think if looks are the only thing they have alike,“ Nela sighs and Jordan manages to shove her off his bed.
„That ALMOST hurt,“ Nela comments, levitating a centimetre above the floor before lifting herself to the same level the boys are, sprawling comfortably with her hands linked behind her head.
„Showoff,“ Niklaus comments but Jordan ignores this obvious show of magical dexterity.

“We agreed you’re not allowed to be mean about Naz,” Jordan reminds them.
"Jordan, really? She made a speech before she threw her name in the Goblet," Nela reminds him.
"I can't imagine being in the same room with her," Niklaus admits, "Her ego must suffocate you instantly," he adds in a mumble more to himself, "And that's saying something if you're friends with Nela," he adds to tease his friend good-willingly.
"Hey, my ego is proportional with my actual awesomeness," she clarifies, still levitating in the air, actually confirming her statement, "Even you should notice this time how cringe-worthy her performance was," Nela points out.
"I do, it was horrifyingly bad," Jordan shakes his head and Nik grins, wondering how could the two differ so greatly, "Did she tell you something else, Nik?" Jordan asks, remembering the short encounter the two had.
"Just the usual, don't touch my pure brother, ya filthy animal," Nik sighs, trying not to let things like that get to him, but then again, it's hard to not let people hating you because... you're born? Especially when it's someone your dear friend loves.
"LOVE the movie reference," Nela laughs, but Jordan looks at them, unsure what they are speaking of. They both notice, "We'll make you watch that movie over the holidays,"s he assures him but he pulls out three pieces of paper and writes their names on all of them.
“Are we gonna do this or what?” he jumps up.
“I saw Penpal throw in her name as well, maybe you’ll fight against her for the title,” Nela winks at Jordan as Niklaus grabs her leg, to pull her levitating body with them, “What’s the hurry, we have a whole day left before dinner!”

+Zion, Gemma, Blaise, Sidh

"How did Lena manage to get this friendly with so many Hogwarts students within a few days?" Zion wonders, but Jordan Gemma just shrugs. She doesn't how can someone get friendly with anyone in actuality.
"She has a loud nature," she assumes, "No reservations?" she suggests, but seems she doesn't know. She really doesn't. Zion catches on and decides to change the topic but still finds the matter amusing.
“Are you aware you’re no longer Jordan,” Zion asks Gemma, as she smears butter on her bread, her forehead wrinkling as her eyes lift to meet his.
“You know how she gets when she’s excited,” Gemma shrugs.
“So it doesn’t bother you?” he asks, to which she gently shakes her head.
“No, I actually like it,” she replies, “It’s after my grandma…. We used to play a lot,” she adds, involuntarily sharing a part of her life. She, however catches it and apologises, “Sorry, irrelevant for the topic at hand,” she concludes and places the knife on the plate, biting into the bread.
“What makes you the person you’re today is always relevant,” Zion assures her as a loud clapping sound is heard, when a peculiar trio of two boys and an astoundingly beautiful girl drop their names in the goblet of fire. They also hear the same girl exclaiming "Jordan, Nela and Nik are ready to show you how it’s done”.
“I think that’s the Jordan Freya’s been talking about,” Zion notices and Gemma nods, agreeing, her eyes caught on the girl more than on the boy, who shares her name.
“This is the second part-Veela student I’ve seen here,” she concludes with interest, averting her eyes, feeling s slight worry, wondering, if maybe her friend seemed to be more than a little interested in the Jordan guy.
“Oh, I’m not part Veela,” the girl appears behind her and sits at the Gryffindor table, where the two decided to sit today, “I’m just really hot,” she clarifies as the two guys coming with her glance at each other before sitting next to her.

An owl lands on the table. First all heads follow it within seconds, those turn back, its presence deemed completely normal. Their conversation continues with an invisible gap between the two groups. The owl offers a leg to Gemma, who unties two letters from its leg only to give one to Zion.
“I think our families sent us letters together,”  she notices and opens it up,  assuming the contents should be similar. She’s about to say something, but a voice interrupts and makes her flinch back.

“I see it’s true,” the voice murmurs, his green tie immediately drawing a conclusion. Gemma instinctively pulls her hands towards her chest in surprise, “Oh, sorry, I really did not mean to frighten you,” Blaise assures her with a face that genuinely shows regret. He doesn’t sit down but glares back at the glares he’s getting from the trio. Zion and Gemma are painfully aware of the tension around them. Zion seems to be the first one to clear his throat.
“Yes, Blaise Lestrange, if I recall correctly,” he starts, “I believe my parents sent an invitation to the ball they’re organising,” he remembers.
“Yes, I am looking forward to the celebration,” the man assures him, “I was, however wondering if you’d like to join our table,” he suggests with an open palm towards the Slytherin table – I have already noticed we might share a common friend, Genevieve,” he adds and Zion nods, affirmatively, catching her face at the table, basically staring at him then looking away in embarrassment. His brows furrow in confusion and he assumes, she suggested this. He nods, assuringly, concluding this would be a good moment to notify her that even if the prank plan sounds amusing, it’s not something he wishes to participate in. If he throws a bit of diplomacy in there, surely she wouldn’t get offended.
“Sure, we will join you,” he catches Gemma’s eyes and she nods reluctantly.
“Excellent, we’re happy to hear that,” he smiles and turns around to approach his table, smiling to Vivi, showing that he successfully invited the Durmstrang crowd to join them at the table and if he wasn’t wrong, Vivi was really excited about that pureblood wizard once he came. It seemed they knew each other.
Blaise is back at the table and Sidh stops him before he sits next to him.

"Sorry, keeping it for Naz," he explains and Blaise sits, leaving a place for someone in between.
"You missed out on her Goblet of Fire performance," Blaise grins, thoroughly amused and Sidh lets out a laugh.
"I can imagine it was amusing," he admits, she always had a flair for the dramatic, "Did she notify everyone she was going to win?" Sidh guessed and Blaise nodded, amused.
"Yes, but she has no chance with me in that Goblet," Blaise assures him, and makes Sidh shake his head in a chuckle.
"Honestly, I don't think either of you have a chance," he grins widely and Blaise grins back.
"Because you're in there, too?" Blaise suggests and Sidh shrugs slowly but visibly, actually thinking none of the three have a chance, glancing over at the Gryffindor table to catch a glimpse of the group he actually thinks have more of a chance. Blaise takes his plate and continues eating as Sidh catches Jordan's stare and mouths a sorry towards the blond man. Jordan nods back in reassurance, before he turns his head to Gemma and Zion, who just got up with plates in their hands.

“Hey, our Durmstrang guests” the Jordan they were talking about addresses them and they wait for the rest, “Just so you know… That guy and the people he’s surrounded with are one of those wizards who use the words like mudblood and share convictions which support that kind of behaviour,” he adds, clearing his throat from the bread he just chewed, “Just thought you might want to know that since you’re friends with Freya,” he explains and gets back to his breakfast as Gemma and Zion look at the crowd there. She sits down, without second-guessing, but he catches Vivi in his field of view and wonders if that could be true. He sits down and decides on staying here, later on apologising for having other plans already.

+Rey, Bryce, James, Ruff

Reynard hears the commotion at the other table and exchanges glances with Bryce.
“I think the Durmstrang guy will draw the wrong conclusions,” Rey mumbles and takes a spoon of his soft-boiled egg.  Bryce lifts up his brows and turns on his attention span to stay focused for a while longer.
“Correct him then?” he suggests, even if he has no idea what’s the man talking about. Rey, however nods, thinking about it. It was not his place to meddle, but if necessary, he’ll say something. On the other hand, he’s not that fond of the Zion guy and the way Vivi seems to drool over him, completely losing, well, let’s say her composure.

“Nah, let’s see how it unfolds first,” he shrugs it off. Truth is, that crowd was composed of some very intolerant individuals such as  Blaise and Naz and he's aware that those can be full on horrible about matters most irrelevant. He corrects himself instantly. Most irrelevant to him, obviously strongly relevant to them, even if he personally cannot fathom it, especially since Naz seems to be pleasant in his own company.

He pokes a piece of cheese onto his fork as Bryce’s mind wanders off, his eyes tracing the edges of a skirt that swooshed right in front of him. His eyes immediately go up and he sees that familiar face. Leta.He remembers her vaguely. Of course he does, his mind is made out of dejavus and familiarities he cannot exactly pinpoint. But it’s there nonetheless. He just wonders from where so he digs in his memory, in hopes of finding information.
“Am I the only one strangely attracted to the accents in which these girls speak?” he wonders as Rey lifts a brow, figuring out if that’s a rhetorical question.
“You probably are,” he assures him before focusing back on his plate.

He’s not, though. There’s James passing by them and he stops to wonder about his encounter with a Beauxbatons student in the library. Somehow that accent makes her more approachable. It happened to him as well, when he was in France for a summer, trying to make his French better. All the people who heard his accent tried extra nice to befriend him and help him out. Then again it was some kind of exchange programme, so the purpose was communication. His mind jumps back to the encounter as he sits at the table and wonders if there’s a similar book he encountered, which he may suggest. He’s sure there is, he just may have to dig through the shelves in order to find it.

He catches a glimpse of his sister in the corner of his eye and immediately turns left to avoid her and her lessons on throwing his name into the Goblet of fire. Holly catches him, though, before he manages to escape.
"Running away from Mary?" she asks and he raises a brow in a Brilliant guess. movement, "Don't worry, I won't tattle," she assures him but tilts her head,
"But, try and be nicer - she's just worried," she assures him before she walks away, passing the Ravenclaw table.

“Hey, Ruffie,” Bryce’s attention gets glued to Rodolphus, who sits down and looks at the man with a Who is Ruffie supposed to be? stare.
“Rey, you should cast a protection spell or glue spell on your clothes,” he informs Reynard, who grins one-sidedly, “Jude will join us soon,” he adds to clarify, but all the boys are smart enough to deduce that from experience and her omnipresence. They all seem happy about her arrival, but Ruff places a bag onto the seat next to him, just in case the hall gets crowded soon.
“Impeccable Glendower manners or transparent fondness for our pant snatcher?”  Bryce teases the boy, cutting the butter croissant in half. He looks at its layers and whistles impressed, “The elves outdid themselves with welcoming the other two schools,” he adds, as if the comment has any relevance to what they are speaking about.
“Both,” Ruff replies with ease as Rey clears his throat, surprised.
“That’s a bold statement,” He notices and gulps some pumpkin juice to swallow the bread easier.
“Don’t be surprised, Rey,” Ruff grabs a sunny side up egg and places it into his plate, “I am very fond of you, too,” he adds, “Even Bryce,” he smirks.
“Huh?” Bryce asks now, his momentarily fascination with croissant layers immediately fading into the background
“If you did not exist,” Ruff shakes his head, “They’d have to invent you,” he adds with a laugh, amused by Bryce.

"Mary is on her way," Rey points out and scoops closer to Bryce so he's avoid the ridiculously full of skinship behaviour Mary shares with people around her, especially Ruff.
"Really?" Ruff raises a brow amused, "You've known her for years, You should get used to people touching you, Rey," he flicks the boys nose and gets a wide-eyed stare of disbelief at the horrifying action the man has just done, "Okay," Ruff puts his hand back into his lap, "I take my action back and decide never to repeat it," he notifies Rey.
"You don't mind so sacrifise yourself," Rey suggests and Ruff laughs.
"Okay, no problem," he assures him and shakes his head, amused, but knowing it's true. He doesn't mind, because at one point he just got used to her presence and felt comfortable. He forks a potato from Bryce's plate and pops it into his mouth, forgetting about manners as the man grins at him.
"We all like you better unconstrained, Ruff," he assures himbut Rey shakes his head.
"No, not all."

(CHAMPIONS/PARTY/after DETENTION)

Story>

Champions

The day had come, the champions for every house would be chosen. Tables and chairs had been beautifully decorated to represent each school. Mary was in awe of everything. So she wasn’t paying to much attention when she stood still in de midst of the way.

“You going to sit down Cinderella,” Ruff said amused.

Mary spins around, “What you don’t like it?”

“It suits you,” came the response, Mary smiled and hooked her arm in his, “Lead the way, handsome,” Mary pointed out looking at his outfit dark blue jeans with a sleeveless suit jacket and a blue dress shirt with a dark blue bow, it suited him. They sat down opposite Rey, Bryce and Jude.

Rey looked with disdain at them, Mary just raised an eyebrow at him.

“I can’t wait to see who will become the champion,” Bryce said with the biggest smile.

“I heard you would participate too?” Mary asked confused about his excitement for someone else.

“No, you heard wrong only Jude and Rey did,” Mary nodded at that and they chatted about who would be their favourite for the school Hogwarts.

Holly sat next to Mary while James sat the other side of her.

“You nervous?” Mary asked James softly.

“Yes,” came the easy reply.

“I am sorry about last time it wasn’t my place,” Mary mumbled.

“No it wasn’t…, …,…, But you had good intention so I am sorry too for being harsh,” James replied after a dreadful silence.

“Ah finally you made up can we have ano-,” Holly, however, got interrupted by the head of Hogwarts who was ready to announce the champions.

“The champion for school Beauxbatons,” Everybody on that table held in their breath it seemed it was cute to see fairy-like people cutely holding in their breath.

The flames turned from blue to red and a paper flew out with crispy sides we should say.

“And the Champion of Beauxbatons is Leta Shillard,” A round of applause issued and a cute blond stood up to go to a room.

“And now for the Champion for school Durmstrang,” Again the deadly silent.

After the same progress, a guy named Zion Yang was chosen he also left for a different room.
“Last but not least the Champion for Hogwarts will be chosen,” instead of silent a round of applause went already around the tables of school Hogwarts.

The progress went the same only this time when the winner was chosen, house of Slytherin made it a big issue, especially Naz.

“That girl has issues,” Jude said.

“See Blaise face the best,” everyone that heard Bryce turned to look at a sour looking Blaise that was throwing the champion Niklaus dead glares.

“Poor boy,” Mary commented.

“D*mn it!” Mary and other eyes all turn to see a frustrated James who didn’t wait for any comment and just got up and left.

Mary signed once again, “I think I am in need of a party and what best why is it to do it in honour’s of the champions,”

Holy turned her head back to Mary “I like the way you think, let’s go to New York,”

“Uhm, we are miles away from there how do you think you are going to get there,” two pairs of eyes turned to smile innocently to Rey.

“The wrong question,” Ruff replies with a shake of his head.

Party

“How did you get him to lend it to us?” Holly asks Mary.

Mary held in the teleport device in her hand.

“Told him I will tell everyone he wet his bed till he was 11,” Mary replied simply.

“He did?” Holly asked surprised.

“No,” Mary replied simply.

“Then how?” Holy pushed

“Who will people believe?, I asked him and he gave it right away.” Mary grinned while thinking back on it.

“Oh your evil,” Holly laughed.

“I am coming with you,” Mary and Holly both turned to see Ruff.

“Why? We will be fine we will go with ten people or so,” Mary told him.

Ruff shook his head “Last time you almost landed in the hospital,”

“Oh those good old days,” Holly grinned and Mary growled.

“I didn’t want to remember,” Ruff held up a shoulder, “Too bad,”

Mary huffed and set on the device most students that wanted to go along already gathered.

“I am coming along,” Mary looked up to see Rey ready to go camping and shook her head.

“Don’t you have something sexier or so,” Mary pointed at his outfit and even Holy nodded.

“Open your blouse at least,” Holly commented and Mary signed and walked into the portal.

Being followed by Ruff, Holly, Rey and some other students.

The other side of the Portal was Hogsmeade. Easy travel Mary mumbled to herself.

“Talking to yourself again?” Mary felt her heart jump up a mile a second before calming down o see a grinning Molly.

“What now?” Rey’s scared voice came out of the portal as last.

“Now we search for the right alley,” after four failed attempts they finally found the right one.

Walking to the best club also took some time but the students had fun laughing chatting being away from the school for just a night was great.

“And we arrived,” Holly pointed out walking to the bouncer skipping the line.

Inside it was loud, sweaty and a lot of fun.

Hours later Ruff mumbled something in Holly’s ear that she didn’t catch.

“What?” Mary asked him once again.

“Time to go,” Ruff replied louder.

“You didn’t say that before,” Mary accused him and he signed.

“It was fun now we got to go,” Mary was about to answer him when she felt soft lips on her cheeks, “A present now let’s go,” Mary followed behind him silently after that.

Okay by now they should now that they always get caught they may escape but when they arrive back they always get caught so no surprise there that Mary and Holly looked into the sleepy eyes of their house teacher as soon as they stepped out of the portal.

“So whose idea was it?” The male teacher asked them.

“Her’s,” Mary and Holy said at the same time pointing at each other.

“How was it my idea you said and I quote, “I think I am in need of a party and what best why is it to do it in honour’s of the champions,” Holly pointed out.

“And you said and I quote,“I like the way you think, let’s go to New York,” Mary pointed out.

The two glared at each other.

“I heard enough every year the same with you too,” the teacher tapped his shoes.

“All the students that went with this two brainwasher 10 o’clock cleaning duty,” the response that he god where not so great, “And now to bed,” Mary ad Holy got dirty looks but both raised their shoulders in innocent and started to walk to there represent houses.

“Not you two,” Both stopped in their tracks.

“7 o’clock this whole month I got a room that I want to see polished at the end of the day,” The teacher says.

Holly’s eyes went big and Mary’s mouth fell open, “Did he just say seven this whole month,” Holly asked Mary.

“On the dot,” said the teacher before turning and walking away.

“I died just know I think,” Mary mumbled.

“No, but I don’t mind killing you,” Holly replied also flabbergasted.

“I think he found your girls weak spot,” Two pairs of eyes turned around to shoot daggers at Rey, next to him you could hear Ruff snickering.

Detention

Mary was angrily cleaning thank god she only had one week left together with Holly.

“I hate this punishment,” Holly speaks up frustrated.

“Me too but the room is getting there,” Mary replies and Holly nods.

“I really thought we would be scot-free this time,” Holly replied.

“Someone properly snitched,” Mary mumbled and yawned.

“I miss my sleep,” Mary complained.

“Me too,” They both finished the task for today and left the room but got stopped by the teacher.

“Mary where’s the rest of your clothing,” Mary frowned at the question then smirked.

“Sorry the washing machine eat it all,” Holly burst out laughing and Mary smiled innocently.

The teacher glared and walked past them into the room.

“Good you did your task get a move on,” Both Holly and Mary walked away fast not needing to be told twice.

“Do you know why I hate him,” Holly asks Mary clearly angered.

“You mean before the punishment?” Holly nodded.

“No,” Mary answered surprised.

“He teaches charm,” Holly replied making Mary burst out laughing.

“You did tell me you hated the subject,” Holly nodded.

“Anyways I am going to ditch you, I need some beauty sleep,” Mary grinned and watched her walk away.

Mary walked into the main hall and saw the little rave group and walked there grabbing Ruff bag and putting it on her lap before, making her head fall on his shoulder.

“Lend me your shoulder for a while Ruff,” Mary mumbled and looked to the opposite to see Rey almost on Bryce lap at how much he tried to avoid someone, he was acting stranger than usual these past days.

“Why do you look like you just had S**,” Bryce asked her.

“That would have been a much funnier exercise,” Mary spoke up and yawned.

“Still has you on a 7 o’clock duty?” Ruff asks and Mary nods softly.

“He hates me more now I think, I hate working in my uniform,” Mary mumbled.

“Maybe if you would just listen you would have been done with your punishment already,” Rey spoke up.

Mary signed here we go again, “We can’t all be a teacher pet, Rey, it’s hard to beat you in that,”

“She has got you there,” Bryce spoke up.

“But still Rey does have a point,” Jude spoke up making Mary roll her eyes and yawn again.

“All right taking this sleepy head to bed, Bryce that potato was disgusting, eat something healthier,” Ruff spoke up standing up and picking Mary up bridal style.

“I am telling you I like the unconstrained Ruff better,” Bryce said with a smirk.

“Speak for yourself,” Rey replied glaring at Ruff or was it, Mary.

“Your right Bryce, I like him like this also better, he smiles more,” Mary responded closing her eyes and smiling.

Another day at Hogwarts... (Jordan & Niklaus)

Turns out being in Hogwarts is not so much different than Durmstrang when it comes to the lessons and Freya’s usual daily life… unfortunately she has to attend Astronomy as well and it doesn’t matter how much she studies or read she will never be good at this subject. The blonde girl frowns while she walks downstairs knowing that she should be happy that the lesson is over but in this moment she is too annoyed with herself. Freya lets out a sigh trying not to think about the stupid Astronomy homework that is waiting for her. She shakes her head, telling herself that she can always worry about this later. Right now her biggest concern is not getting lost on her way to the Great Hall… again. But seems like this might be her lucky day since Freya spots Jordan as soon as she has reached the staircase. She smiles as she quickens her steps to catch up with him.
“Hey.” the blonde girl says as soon as she has reached him. “Please tell me you are also heading down for Lunch.”
“Hi yourself. Of course… wanna tag along?” he offers smiling at her.
“Gladly. I still don’t trust those stupid stairs.” Freya admits, “And how was your day?”
“So far pretty good but I have two Potion lessons in the afternoon.” Jordan explains letting out a sigh, “What about you?”
“Oh sounds like you and Potions still haven’t managed to become friends.” the blonde girl teases chuckling. She can’t remember how often he had complained in the letters that he will never understand the purpose of learning all kind of potions despite being good at them - Jordan’s words not hers, “I have just survived Astronomy… but I wish you good luck.”
“Thanks Freya and congrats on surviving.” Jordan laughs, “So how do you like Hogwarts so far?”
“It is not bad - of course Durmstrang will always be my favourite school - but I’m starting to see why you are happy here.” the blonde girl replies brushing a strand of her hair back. “I’m more curious about the Tournament though.”
“You aren’t the only one, Freya. I’m wondering who will make it in the end.” Jordan smiles looking at her from the side, “I’m hoping for myself but with so many students putting their names into the Goblet… who knows we might be even competing against each other.”
“Maybe or you are the one who ends up cheering for me.” the blonde girl teases poking out her tongue.
“Pff we will see about this.” Jordan grins at her. By now they have reached the Great Hall without getting lost and as Freya looks around she can’t spot Gemma or Zion. “You want to sit with me and Niklaus?” Jordan offers pointing at the Gryffindor table.
“Sure.” she nods before following him, “Hey Niklaus.” she greets the dark-haired boy, “Oh and who is that?” A small tabby is lying on the bench next to him apparently asleep despite many students talking loudly with each other.
“Hi Freya… that is Kitten.” he explains offering her a small smile. The blonde girl carefully extends her hand towards the cat which at first only glares at her through half-open eyes before it lets out a loud hiss.
"Did I do something wrong?" She asks looking at Niklaus.
"Kitten isn't exactly a fan of people... well except for me." He explains, "I found her in Hogsmeade freezing and all alone." He reaches down petting Kitten.
"No wonder that she likes you." Freya smiles at him. "I thought of getting a cat but decided on an owl instead. It was an opportunity I couldn't miss."
"And Kitten was mine." Niklaus replies with a fond smile.
"She is cute but you have to work on her behaviour." Jordan says.
"You are only jealous because she doesn't like you." Niklaus teases him grinning. The blonde guy looks at him slightly offended before he starts laughing.
"I think I can surviving with Kitten not liking me." Jordan replies while henreaches for a piece of meat.
"Just keep telling yourself that." Niklaus replies shaking his head.
Freya chuckles at their silly argument which reminds her of herself and her sisters. She misses both of them and hopes that Carina will keep her promise to look after Rebekka. As she reaches over the table for the jug of pumpkin juice she notices the pieces of parchment, "Transfiguration..."
"Oh that is mine." Niklaus explains, "I like to be done with as soon as I can or otherwise I will be stuck with it the whole evening."
"Sounds like you are not a fan of Transfiguration." Freya says brushing a strand of her hair back as she takes a closer look.
"Not really. I prefer everything instead... especially Care of Magical Creatures." He says with a frown as he glances down on the parchment.
"I can help you if you want." Freya offers lips curled into a smile, "I have always enjoyed Transfiguration... the idea to turn things into something else like animals has always fascinated me."
"Thanks Freya." Niklaus smiles back, "I know this feeling... there are so many different magical creatures. Each different in their needs and way of living and of course also look wise. But since there are any animals it doesn't matter how much read about them or think to know about them, they will always act different."
"That sounds... well to be honest I have never thought about this way." Freya admits looking at him with a thoughtful expression on her. "I have been wondering about something... how did the two of met?"
"On our first day so not exactly the most exciting story." Jordan tells her with a smile. "I knew what was going to happen, not to forget the stories I've heard about Hogwarts but Niklaus..." he stops looking at his friend.
"Oh so you are a muggle-born too?" The blonde girl asks turning slightly in his direction. "Getting your letter must have been quite the shock for you."
"Shock seems almost like an understatement to be honest. But luckily I had Jordan and Nela to help me find my way around." The dark-haired guy says with a bright smile.
"My magical guides - seemed like a fun way to call them this - are Zion and Gemma. Well actually her name is Jordan but given him..." she laughs pointing at the blonde guy sitting across from her, "... that would be way too confusing."
"Wny? You could have called me Jordan Number 1 and her Jordan Number 2." He offers lips curled into a huge grin.
"But who says that you get to be Number 1." Freya teases poking out her tongue. She finishes her glass of pumpkin juice, "Maybe we can discuss this another time... I have Herbology next and I don't want to be yet late again. See you around." She waves at both at them before grabbing her bag and then hurrying out of the Great Hall.

Choosing the Champions (Gemma, Jordan & Zion)

Freya’s eyes have been locked on the Goblet of Fire since she has sit down. Just a few more minutes and she will finally know if she will be part of the Tournament or not. October has passed quicker than she could have imagined and in a few days there would be a Halloween Feast. For a moment she turns her attention to the Gryffindor table finding both Jordan and Niklaus. She waves in their direction lips curled into one of her usual smiles. Just a few weeks ago she has been joking with them about who would support whom during the Tournament and the blonde girl knows that despite being from Durmstrang she wouldn’t mind if one of them won. Suddenly someone gasps loudly and Freya turns her head back to the Goblet just in time to see the Hogwarts Headmaster catching the first piece of paper.
“Leta Shillard from Beauxbatons…” Freya joins the applause while she looks around spotting a girl with blonde hair getting up to walk towards the teachers.
“Zion Yang from Durmstrang.” She feels both disappointed - for not making it herself - and happy because he is her friend and she will be definitely cheering for him during the Tournament. As Zion joins Leta, Freya wonders if he will remain the only person she will support.
“And the Hogwarts Champion is Niklaus Kalendruschat.” The blonde girl chuckles when she hears Jordan’s loud cheering and clapping for his friend. Naturally she feels sad that she isn’t one of the Champions but she has no doubt that Zion is a good - or maybe even better - choices.
“See I told you that I wouldn’t get picked.” Freya says throwing an arm over Gemma’s shoulder.
"Because you have been lucky, Freya." Her friends replies rolling her eyes.
"Luck or no luck... but who knows maybe it is better this way." She shrugs watching Zion and the other champions, "I'm certain that he will make sure that Durmstrang is going to win. Besides cheering sounds like it could be fun too." She adds lips curled into a smile.
"You are a strange person." Gemma says shaking her head.
"I will take this as a compliment...  but tell me why." Freya asks looking closing at her friend.
"I thought you might be more disappointed since it seemed like you really want to be part of the Tournament." Gemma explains.
"Oh, I am... kinda. Sure it would have been an amazing opportunity to be a Triwizard Champion." Freya tells her, "But it wasn't meant to be. And we shouldn't forget that Zion is our friend and he deserves only the best support from us. I wonder how he must be feeling right now." She turns her head looking at the spot where the Champions have been standing before they left the Great Hall.
"I'm sure there will be time later to ask him." Gemma mentions smiling a bit, "Remember there is still plenty of time before the first task."
"True... I wonder if there will be new tasks though seeing a dragon would be pretty awesome." The blonde girl says before she gets up, "I'm going to join Jordan, want to come as well?"
Gemma shakes her head, "Maybe next time. I'll see you later." Freya gives her a small smile before she walks over to the Gryffindor table sitting down next to Jordan.
"Looks like we won't have any problems with supporting our schools." The blonde girl chuckles bumping her shoulder against his.
"Too bad. I was already looking forwards to see you cheering for me." Jordan grins.
"Only in your dreams." Freya says rolling her eyes, "But we could make our own little competition if you want to..."
"And to find out what?" Jordan asks sounding mildly interested.
"To se who is the better supporter." She suggestes with her lips curled into a grin.
"Mhm... I'll think about it. And I should see how Niklaus is doing." Jordan replies.
"Tell him all the best from me." Freya smiles.
"I will." He says before turning around to leave the Great Hall.

"And how does it feel to be Champion?" Freya asks Zion later the same day after she finally managed to have a moment alone with him. They are standing on board of the Durmstrang ship.
"Strange but not unpleasant though I don't feel much likef a Champion yet." Zion replies looking at the lake in front of them, "The other champions seem nice. I wonder if that will change during the Tournament."
"It is a competition so everything is possible." Freya shrugs, "But I'm sure you will do fine."
"Just fine?" He asks smiling slightly, "But thank you, Freya."
"Well, this is your chance to prove me wrong." She teases looking at him, "Of course,  we are friends and are there for each other."
"Not sad that you didn't make it?" Zion asks sounding surprsied.
"Gemma asked me the same earlier and surprisingly not as much as I thought. Sure being the Champion would have been exciting - probably dangerous - and something happening only once but it wasn't meant to be." Freya explains shrugging, "Besides every Champion needs support and I will be the best and loudest supporter you could wish for." She adds smiling brightly.
"You are something different, Freya." Zion smiles shaking his head.
"That's the second compliment I got today,  must be my lucky day." The blonde girl chuckles.
"So it isn't my lucky day?" He asks sounding amused.
"We could always share." Freya offers, "Though I think you deserve it more... I mean look at you, Zion Triwizard Champion from Durmstrang."
"I am still myself, Freya. And no tournament is going to change that." Zion places a hand on her shoulder, "It is getting cold, are you coming back inside?"
"In a few minutes." She shakes with her head, "But you don't ned to wait for me."
"I think I can spare one more moment." He says leaning himself against the railing next to her...

Becoming a champion

The moment of truth. Or doom. She didn't know. Right now both she and Acel were sitting together, ignoring the obvious looks sent his way, fans hoping he'd be picked to represent school. Of course, judging the artifact itself, it wouldn't pick someone based on need of the fans. Of course, everybody had their own little hope to be chosen. Even she had that tiny spark.
"This is it" she said to Acel, seeing as the lights around dimmed. "Fingers crossed."
"Good luck" he said and they smiled at each other, nodding.
It was just a moment, when the flames turned another color and a piece of paper flew out, burned around the edges just a little bit.
"Champion of Beauxbatons... Leta Shillard."
She hadn't realized she held her breath. Getting up and hearing the round of applause, she couldn't help, but notice some sour faces, beloging to Acel's fans. She knows that some of them would accuse her of stealing the spot for a rightful champion. Those same faces were also the ones that tried to make her suffer only by associating with Acel.
She was directed to an adjacent room, waited for another ones to be chosen. She didn't have to wait long, before a boy came through. She took a glance at him, features that reminded her of some Asian model she saw in one of mothers' magazines. They greeted each other and waited... until a freckled boy came through and another greetings ensued.
Only when headmasters and representatives of ministry arrived and explained rules and set the term of first task, the three exchanged looks. It was no joke now, being bound by magical contract was a serious thing.

Disturbances

It was no gold and glitter, the first days afterwards. A hard time when the letter from her mother arrived, with few words of support and more words of demands towards keeping grace, poise, style and grades. Leta was aware that Shillard family paid huge attention to certain features and to keeping their appearance. In her mother's case apple hadn't fallen far from the tree, even after being disowned.
And the stares, disapproving drilling of the couple of eyes, wishing her the worst. It was not new, there was a group, almost obsessive fans of Acel, that took huge offence to her being selected. She awaited their move... but she hadn't expected it so soon.
The words were cutting, conveying the message that Acel should be the one picked and that she had no reason to usurp his rightful place and so on. This was a very obsessive group that would put her best friend on a pedestal and worship him as a god if allowed to. She was keeping appearance in front of them, even said something that threw them slightly off balance, but when she was let go, her first steps were towards library.
There, in a quiet corner, reading a book about defensive spells - or pretending to read - she managed to let few tears slip, safer in the corner than in the group. Those words hurt, decreasing the confidence she had.
"Can I sit here?" she heard.
Raising her head up, she saw James. He had a couple of books with him, no doubt wanted to study or just read them. She nodded, smile briefly graced her lips, before she returned to her reading.
There was a shuffling of pages and a soft noise of book moved. She looked up a little bit, seeing a title. A book about self-altering spells and legal issues. This was just a brief look, but it picked her interest.
"Excuse me" she said. "Have you read this one yet?" she pointed to the said book.
"I did" he admitted. "Have you?"
"Briefly... Now I don't have that much time to pursue the legality of some charms..."
"I know. Congratulations on being chosen."
"Thank you" another smile, to the viewer could seem like a sadder one.
She probably still had some traces of silent crying visible, but at this point, she was certain they vanished.
"How do you feel about your champion?"she asked, all of a sudden. "According to the history of tournaments, goblet picks out the best of the pretenders."
"He's fine" James concluded. "Artifact is known for being objective, although the 1994 tournament..."
"It's what I believe the start of Second Wizarding War" she filled the pause. "The enchantment of the goblet haven't forbid a foreign influence and I wonder if it was strenghtened..."
Doubts. It was clear that she had doubts if it was right for her to be picked. And if it was heard, nobody commented on that.

Practice and summer

"I'll head out first" Acel said, picking up his bag. "Are you certain you want to stay a little longer?"
"Yes" Leta smiled at him warmly, his presence filled her with a little more confidence. "I've done my homework earlier, so I have a couple more minutes to practice."
She managed to get permission from Hogwarts' staff to use one of the classes for practice and with Acel's help, she managed to refresh her knowledge. She was taking her role as a champion seriously, something that maybe wasn't understood by some, who wanted to just enjoy life.
When he left, she still was repeating a couple of more offensive spells, before calling it a day. She was becoming tired of the practice, as if it was a normal day of schoolwork.
Closing the classrom and reaching the caretaker to give the key to him so he could take it, she was only left with returning to her bed and get some sleep. Or so she thought. It was quite late, but still before curfew, so there were students strolling around...
"Leta, hi" Bryce stopped by her.
"Hi" she smiled at him. They still haven't pinpointed the familiarity. "How are you?"
"Great, actually" he smiled back, the familiar charming smile. "Without your friend this time?"
It was no secret that she and Acel were training. Even Bryce had seen them practising at one point.
"He's probably already sleeping" she shrugged. "I've just finished."
"Isn't it hard, training that much?"
"A little" she said, suddenly the two were walking towards the direction she intended to, as if he was walking her back there. "Perks of being sole representative of a school, have to perform at my best."
"Sounds similar to 'perks of being the oldest'" he laughed.
It rang a bell. She said something like that to a boy, when she was on vacation in Nice. At that point she had completely enough of her younger sisters and her father's second wife.
"Yeah, I think I know where we met" she said all of a sudden. "Nice."
"Yeah, I've been there... Waaait..." it clicked. "Nice, blue parasol, watermelon ice cream."
"Yeah" she smiled widely. "That should be it. I had no idea you're a wizard."
"Neither have I of you being a witch. I guess we held our secret well."
"True" a soft laughter escaped her lips.

Before the storm

"Hey, Champion" Mathieu's voice rang in her ears, as she enjoyed a cup of hot chocolate, last day before the first task commenced. She decided to relax before it, as cramming the night was never her way. She studied and prepared, so it was better to let it settle instead of nervously packing everything in. "Waiting for Acel?"
"No, just relaxing" Leta sighed, blowing away steam from the cup for a short moment. "First task is tomorrow."
"I thought you'd be practising even now" the boy shared the thought. "You've been doing that for many days."
"Yeah, well..." she sighed again. "I deserve a break here and there" she concluded, smiling.
"True" he nodded, taking a seat. "You ought to have some fun, it's not always spells and books."
"Spells are fun" she shrugged. "Especially when you do a dye job inexperienced-hairstylist-like."
"Somebody did that to you?"
"Or I to somebody else during study" Leta concluded, taking a final sip. "I'll head out to sleep" she got up. Brief conversation with Mathieu made her a little anxious. "Wish me luck tomorrow."
"Of course I'll be cheering with the rest of the school" he grinned. "Night, Leta."
"Goodnight, Mathieu."
There it was that subtle note, when she spoke his full name. It was something she was catching herself on and wanted it to vanish. The prospect of his cheering made her paradoxally at ease in terms of tomorrow. Acel and Mathieu supporting her was a dream come true...
Oh God! Focus, Leta! You have to sleep and not think about boys!

- "It's time!" I say as they were about to announce Durmstrang's representive/chzmpion. I close my eyes tightly feeling my hearts beating faster and louder than before. I.. I know that I may not be chosen as there are quite talented and better people then me but it didn't always hurt to expect something different..
- I was in deep thought I nearly missed the name
- "... is Zion Yang!"
- I stop for a few seconds when I hear all the applaud and join in. We keep applauding as he makes his way to the front and I smile when I see him being happy...
- Next they call out for Niklaus as Hogwarts' champion

The daily owl

"You really should think about getting a new owl." Rodolphus said between bites of his toast as my barn owl Valentine appears at our table in the dining hall.

"There's no reason for me to replace Val." I replied thinking fondly of the day that my father brought her home for me.

"Except that she's old and probably half blind." He retorted.

As if on cue Val grazed the side of his head as she leaves the table, having dropped off a small parcel and been rewarded with some fruit from my plate.

"Her sight seems spot on to me." Rey laughed from across the table.

"You need to control her." Rodolphus said as he rubbed his temple. "I may need to see Madame Pomfrey."

"What if I just kiss it and make it better?" I said as I thought of the phrase my dad had picked up from working with Muggles. Of course kisses didn't actually have any magic but Rodolphus wasn't actually hurt.

Rodolphus had a confused look on his face as I removed his hand and gently pressed my lips to his temple before I returned to the unopened parcel in front of me.

I ignored the chatter around me as I opened the letter from my father, he sent one every morning usually with some silly joke or something I needed from home. This morning was no different but he also wished me luck in being selected for the TriWizard tournament as well as a silver token from his first Muggle job which he hoped would bring me luck.

"Do I at least get to hear your dad's joke." Rodolphus asked as I finished the letter. It had become a bit of a ritual for me to read them out loud every morning.

"Nope you insulted Val." I said before I got up to leave.

"But we didn't insult Val." Rey said indicating himself and Bryce. "Tell us."

"You didn't defend her either." I responded, "so no joke for you." I said getting up to walk away, leaving the guys behind me chattering.

Choosing the champion

At least it wasn't that Naz girl. I thought to myself as the Hogwarts champion was announced. I hadn't been in the great hall when she made her little speech  but I'd heard about it.

I also couldn't help but smile to myself when I realized exactly who it was: Niklaus. While I'd only seen him around school briefly he seemed like a nice guy and I was sure he'd do the school proud.

"Wishing it were you?" Rey asked as he walked up beside me.

"At least it's not Naz." I said trying to find the Slytherin girl in the crowd, "Or some stuck up pureblood."

"That's not an answer."

"It's not the answer you wanted." I responded with a smirk.

"Why do you always do that?" He asked.

"Why do you seem surprised by anything I do anymore? We've been friends for 6 years."

"I was surprised when you kissed Rodolphus."

"Wait what?!" I started, "Oh that." I continued when I realized what he was talking about, "that wasn't like a real kiss, it's something muggles do when their kids get hurt, not that he was really hurt but you know what I mean."

"Oh."

"If I really kiss somebody, you'll be the first to know." I said with a smile, leaving him to ponder over what I could mean by that as I went to go jot a quick note to my dad abount who the champion would be.

The second owl

The next morning at breakfast I was surprised when in addition to my owl Valentine, another barn owl with similar markings stopped in front of me. I felt my body tense as I noticed the red envelope. In third year I had attempted to make a howler disappear and the results were less than stellar so I just took a deep breath and opened it.

"JUDE CORINTHIAN COLLINS HOW DARE YOU ATTEMPT TO ENTER THE TRIWIZARD TOURNAMENT." Came the screeching voice of my mother Adelyn. "AND TO ADD INSULT TO INJURY I HAD TO LEARN OF YOUR RECKLESSNESS FROM MRS. GLENDOWER. CAN YOU IMAGINE MY EMBARASSMENT? IF I DIDN'T THINK YOU'D RELISH IN ATTENDING ONE OF THOSE FILTHY MUGGLE SCHOOLS THAT YOU AND YOUR FATHER GO ON AND ON ABOUT, I'D HAVE YOU PULLED OUT OF HOGWARTS THIS INSTANT! KEEP BEING FOOLISH YOUNG LADY AND I'LL HAVE YOU SHIPPED ACROSS THE OCEAN TO STAY WITH YOUR AUNT ELEANORA AND ATTEND ILVERMORNY WITH YOUR COUSINS! DON'T TEST ME JUDE, I'VE ALREADY MADE ARRANGEMENTS WITH THEIR HEADMISTRESS."

"Your mother needs a hobby." I spat at Rodolphus when the Howler burned itself out. "There's a reason I don't tell Adelyn my business." I said as I pointed to the pile of ashes on the table before getting up to leave.

I could see the table full of Slytherin's snickering as I walked past them and it wasn't until I was in the corridor that I realized I was being followed.

"Jude, wait!" Rodolphus yelled behind me. While I quickened my pace instead he managed to catch up with me. "Maybe my mother does need a hobby." He conceded.

"Why are you talking to her about me anyway, spying for Adelyn?"

"It's not like that, your mother worries about you."

"She worries about me being like my father, she worries about me embarassing her in some way."

"Speaking of your father, you left this at the table." He replied as he handed me a small box.

As we made our way to the Ravenclaw common room I opened it and found a box of homemade pumpkin pasties, a recipe my dad had gotten from my gran, something he knew would make me smile.

"This is what a good parent does when they realize their kid may be upset about something." I said gesturing to the box.

"Are you uspet about something?" He asked as we stepped through the portrait of the fat lady.

"Are you asking for you or for Adelyn?"

"Can I say both?"

"You can, but it's the wrong answer." I replied as I walked up the stairs to the girls dormitory.

The day before the tournament begins

The day before the first task, I literally tripped over Niklaus in the library as he was searching for a book on the bottom of the stacks.

"We have to stop meeting like this." I laughed as his cat hissed at me from a safe distance. "I am glad to see you though."

"Really?"

"Yeah, I wanted to congratulate you on being the Hogwarts champion." I started. "And I wanted to give you this." I said as I pulled the silver token my dad had sent me from home. "Don't worry it isn't enchanted or anything.

"Pizza palace?" He said with a smile. "Where'd you get this?"

"My dad." It's from his first job, "He sent it to me for luck if I became the champion so I'm giving it to you for the same reason."

"Your dad? Is he a muggle?"

"A squib actually." I responded defensively, "But some people don't even know it when they meet him."

"It's just...it's silly but I always wanted a party at Pizza Palace when I was a kid."

"I actually had a few of those." I laughed, "Adelyn hated every second of it."

"Adelyn?"

"My mom."

"The voice from the Howler."

"Why am I not surprised the whole dining hall heard that?" I sighed. "I just wanted to give you the token."

"Are you sure your dad won't mind."

"Not at all; it was meant for the Hogwarts champion and you're the Hogwarts champion." I responded with a smile. "I really should get back to my charms homework, but I can't seem to find the book I need, the one by Romulus Ferrigan."

"Oh I have that one." Niklaus replied as he went over to the pile of books on the table, many of which were worn.

"Are these all yours?" I asked.

"Yeah." He responded.

"You're harder on your books then I'm on mine." I laughed "And first year I went through rolls of spello-tape trying to keep mine together. Do you mind?" I asked as I pulled out my wand.

"Go ahead." he said after a few minutes.

A few words and a wave of my wand and the books were as good as new.

"That should hold them." I said as I replaced my wand in my robes. "Are you sure you don't need the Ferrigan book? If you do I can just jot down a few notes."

"It's yours." he responded with a smile.

"Thanks." I said as I grabbed the book and headed out of the library.

Sliding the text into my bag I really did hope the token that my dad sent brought Niklaus luck, he was way too cute to get eaten by a dragon or something.

When Zion Came...

A smile appeared on my face as soon as Blaise came back to my table with Zion and his acquaintances following him, although I have no idea why they’re with Blaise. But anyway, since the chance is given, if Blaise ruins the atmosphere of our conversation by throwing in words like mudblood, I’m definitely going to murder him later. Maybe there happens to be none pure bloods in that trio... who knows.

Blaise returned to the seat beside me, and Zion across from me with two other girls. Something about that makes me feel that it’s... ominous?

“Hi, I’m Genevieve,” I said carefully, standing up to shake their hands. The girls introduced themselves as briefly as I did and we sat down.

It was also then that I noticed that there was a small piece of paper in front of me, on my spot on the table, and I glanced at Zion quickly, who refused to make eye contact. Okay, I’m about to get rejected. Definitely. It’s okay, Vivi, calm down, you haven’t opened the letter yet.

"So, Durmstrang, right? Basically 100% pureblood if the last few mudbloods are extinguished. Zion, as a pureblood, don't you think that they should be thrown out?" Blaise began, a smug smile on his face. Zion's brows furrowed and I could see he was uncomfortable.

I pinched Blaise's thigh.

"Sorry, Blaise values blood purity too much. Please don't be offended," I said quickly, after seeing that all of the Durmstrang students were uncomfortable.

"Me? I don't value purity too much. It's you who don't understand the beauty of purity," Blaise purred.

"Blaise!" I hissed angrily.

"I believe mudbloods shouldn't exist, honestly. Those with no ties to magic should remain untied," he continued.

"You...!" one of the girls stood up, banging the table furiously.

"Hush," Zion said, touching her wrist gently. My chest hurt.

"Blaise, if you're going to be rude to our guests, why invite them over?" I said angrily.

"Thought you knew Zion and maybe you wanted to talk to him," Blaise replied casually, shrugging.

"Well, not a conversation like this," I snapped.

"Just trying to help," Blaise frowned cheekily.

"Vivi, I can't believe he's your friend," Zion sighed.

"You know I'm not like that," I retorted. Before I was given another chance, however, Zion already left the table with his friends. Blaise and I talked no more after they left, and my heart sank when I opened Zion's letter and found I've been rejected.

The Champions

"You look so cute!" my girl friends squealed when I approached them. Champions were getting chosen today, and I decided wear a short dress, the outfit completed with a sheer cape.

"Thanks," I grinned, "Hope it's a Slytherin."

"Ooh, what if Naz gets picked?" one of them suggested, bumping Naz teasingly, casually.

"I'm sure we can count on you if you get picked," I chirped, poking Naz too.

Sidh, Blaise and other Slytherins gathered around us. We looked like a family dressed in green at the centre of the room; it was rather heartwarming.

Students continued to roll into the room, including a group of Durmstrang students. I avoided Zion's eyes although I was quite sure he glanced at me; we hadn't talked since that argument.

"Still angry at me?" Blaise chuckled.

"Nah, not really," I shrugged, "Sure, I wish we can become something, but it seems like he really doesn't like me that way. In fact, thanks to you, it feels as if he doesn't even consider me a friend anymore."

"Yeah Blaise, just as I thought. Your fault."

"Rey!" I gasped, turning around to see my Ravenclaw classmate standing in our Slytherin family.

"Hey, I just wanted to have some fun. Tease our spoiled princess a little," Blaise grinned slyly, ruffling my hair.

"You call yourself her friend? Have you considered that your actions might lead Zion to the wrong conclusions? Poor Vivi, there goes her first love," Rey frowned.

"It's okay, I'm good at not letting emotions trouble me," I laughed, "There's still a lot in this world waiting for me, like, a great career."

"Good to see you recovering, you've practically been dying, especially in class. You know exams are coming up, right?" Rey said, a hint of worry in his voice.

"Yeah, yeah, no problem," I replied, "Thanks for the reminder anyway."

"So you're over him? That's no fun," Blaise expressed.

"Blaise, please, I can't be trapped in those daydreams forever," I rolled my eyes. Truthfully, however, I'm still not over Zion...

Story:


It had taken me hours to pick out an outfit for today. Literally hours. Normally I don't really care what I wear - as long as I look decent it's fine with me. But today, today was different. I needed to look on point and ready to slay. Cos today is the day my name gets pulled out the Goblet of Fire, the day I become a Triwizard Champion, the day my life changes for the better.

The back of my dress flows as I march down the corridor, my feet tap tap tapping in a healthy beat. My mind drifts off to thoughts of all that will happen over the next couple of months. They'd be tough, sure, but it wouldn't be anything I couldn't handle. As I dreamed about the wealth coming my way, I walk straight into Rey.
"Hey, watch where you're going!"
"Sorry." Rey says, his eyes moving up and down me. "I didn't expect to see you here, thought you'd be hiding in the library something." He chuckles lightly, before raising his hands as if to say he meant nothing by it. He probably thought I was going to respond or something, but my mind was too busy thinking about the tournament.
"Look, that stays between us alright." I whisper, brushing past him and carrying on to the Great Hall. But to my surprise, Rey caught up and walked along beside me.
"Sure thing, our little secret." He winks at me. "But only if you answer this: what were you doing there?"
Sighing, I question him. "You're not going to drop this are you?"
"Nope."
I sigh again, "I need to be smarter than my brother, which doesn't come naturally to me. And I have a rep to maintain you know, I don't want everyone thinking I'm a swot or anything. So I use that quiet place in the library or I go into the Forbidden Forest at night and just read or practice - "
"Wait, you go into the Forbidden Forest? Alone? At night?"
"Sure." I shrug, it's nothing to me.
"I mean, you don't have to do that. I could... I could help you study. If you ever needed a hand with anything..."

Pausing before entering the hall, I stare at the guy with his offer. For the first time over the past couple of weeks, my mind forgets about the tournament and ticks over Rey instead. Maybe I could use him somehow.

"Maybe, I'll think about it." And with that, I end our conversation.

* * * * * * * * * *

"Hey, over here." The room is packed, but it's no surprise when there's as good as 3 schools in her. My eyes flicker from face to face, warm as I attempt to greet the people who will soon be supporting me.
"I said, over here."
This time I find the voice. It's Sidh, waving one arm in the air to attract my attention.
"I'd love to sit with you, but there's no room on the - " but before I can even finish, Sidh has gotten up.
"You take the seat, I'll sit on the floor."
"You know we're not together anymore." I tease.
"Doesn't stop me from being a gentleman. Besides, how bad would it look when your name's pulled out and your sat on the floor."
I have the perfect response lined up, but silence falls over the Great Hall.

* * * * * * * * * *

So someone called Leta and someone called Zion were chosen to represent the enemy schools. I hold my breathe as the final slip of paper is selected from the goblet. My whole body trembles in anticipation but I try my best to keep myself steady. Nerves . I stand up, ready to make my way to the front when my name is called.

But it's not called.

It's Niklaus.

He's the champion.

I can no longer feel my body as it all goes numb and my heart plummets into the ground. I grab ahold of the closest thing to me, Sidh's shoulders. He turns around and gives me a worried look. "Naz... are you okay?"
"I'm... I'm fine. Really."

I feel like all of the air has been sucked out of the room. Not wanting anything to happen in front of the school, I somehow manage to stagger out the room, unable to hold back the tears.

I opt to go for dinner as late as possible. Only a handful of people are still eating. Most people are out at some party for the champions. But not me. I take a seat at the end table and reach out for a bread roll.

"I still can't believe it - it's amazing." That was my brother's voice. I glance over to the Gryffindor table and spot him out of the corner of my eye.  I have a lot of anger towards him, but teeny tiny part of me is relieved to see him looking so happy.

That fades as soon as I spy Niklaus sat with him. I'd say I'd done pretty well keeping my emotions in check but as soon as I saw him I completely lost it.

I'm not entirely sure what happened in the moments that followed, I saw red and that was it. I know I stormed over, pinned him flat against the table and screamed... something.

And then I saw him over breakfast this morning. He had a bruise ove his right eye.

So. This is the third time I'm trying to post .

While I'm against having winners, this is a contest, so I have to post results.
That is why only those who respected the rules and finished each round in due time were named winners.
However, everyone who joined got a banner because we're here to write and enjoy the story.

Now that the introductory part I is over, I will start preparing personalised plots for part II, so that I bring in the element of drama.
