I believe I must admit defeat now, against time, myself and writing, which I absolutely hate because Jules is one of my favourite charas in a good while and I fell in love with Evie from the beginning, to the degree that Claire never had a chance although I tried to keep an open mind about it. I really wanted to finish my story about my silly little sapphics, to be able to leave Jules and Evie in a good place with love and more understanding, and to have Jules and Claire settle their past in the best way. I still might even though this is closing.

But cheers to christmas contest being a good theme and christmas-time for writing sadly being kind of the worst hehe

Thank you, Schogo, for a great cosy contest and understanding for the way I can seem to start well, but haven't been able to stick my landing! I'll try to squeeze in some writing today, maybe something to give an idea about where I wanted this utterly cute story to end.

I loved the contest and the liberty we had in crafting the universe in it, I loved Georgia so much, not to mention Arno and Nate - and the cosiness of it all which made me want to book a ticket straight to a small Canadian town.

This is it... your time in Maplewood has come to an end or maybe it hasn't and you have found a reason to stay longer if not forever. I had a blast and a wonderful time reading your stories and seeing how you developed relationships along the way. It was also exciting to read and finally find out where you would end up... and more importantly with whom.

I know how busy RL can be and I'm thankful for every little moment that you used to work on your story and to bring your amazing characters to life. For me you are all winners in your unique and special way.



Where to begin... I absolutely adored reading Georgia not only the way her relationship with Arno developed but also her interactions with Nathan and her family. She never gave up despite her personal struggles. Honestly, I don't think Nathan ever stood a chance to find his way back into Georgia's heart... the proposal scene had me screaming because this is exactly what I had been hoping for her and Arno.



There was something about Jules that easily captured my attention and interest from the beginning. Her interaction with both Evie and Claire always felt real to me though I have to say that at times I was a bit annoyed by Jules' stubbornness. As for her relationships... Claire never stood a chance. Her interactions with Evie felt right from the beginning and while they had their struggles, Jules never stopped fighting and loving Evie.



It is a shame that you didn't manage to finish your story because I had been curious from the beginning about who would be the one Mataji ends up with... while it had seemed like it might be Arthur I couldn't shake off the feeling that maybe Nathan had a second chance to be in her life again. And while there is no end to your story, it doesn't stop me from imagining that she stayed in Maplewood and took a chance with Nathan.


Epilogue

Moment together

With his lips curled into a smile, Arno closed the door behind him. He heard music coming from the living room, and he wasn't much surprised to see Georgia sitting on the sofa with a bunch of magazines scattered on the table.

"Being busy again?" He asked with a chuckle before he leaned down to kiss her softly.

"A wedding doesn't plan itself." Georgia laughed reaching for another magazine.

"Well, it would if we hire someone." Arno reminded her with a playful smile.

"But where would be the fun in that?"

"I don't see the fun... or maybe I am not looking close enough." Shaking his head Arno stepped into the kitchen. He grabbed a bottle of wine from the fridge and two glasses.

"You know that we could always go for a small wedding in Maplewood." He suggested as he settled down on the couch next to hers.

Georgia let out a sigh, "I have been thinking about it. It does sound like a lovely idea." She smiled bringing the glass to her lips.

Arno's eyes fell on the engagement ring on her finger... a sight that he would never grow tired of seeing and he couldn't wait for the moment to finally slip the wedding ring on her other finger.

"It would. Don't forget that it would tie it all together perfectly." Lips curled into a smile, "Your family wouldn't have to travel far and it would be a nice reminder of our special moment."

"Mhm, it would." Georgia scooted closer... head resting on his shoulder, "Love you, Arno."

"Love you too, Georgia."

Weekend Morning

Slowly blinking Evie opened her eyes only to be greeted by a messy nest of curls. It was one of those rare weekend mornings where both of them could sleep in. With careful movements, Evie slipped out of Jules' tight embrace and their bed... tiptoeing into the kitchen where she turned on the coffee machine. Head turned towards the window Evie looked at the city outside. She and Jules have been back from Maplewood for a little over a month and while they still had their bad days their relationship had improved immensely since their return. They had spent more than one night talking with each other... finally voicing all their insecurities, doubts and thoughts. Evie never had any doubts that she loved Jules and that she wanted to be with her and knowing that her girlfriend felt the same way... it was one of the best feelings in the world.

"Someone is up early..."

Evie started slightly as she felt Jules' arms around her followed by a soft kiss against her cheek. "What happened to sleeping in?"

"It is almost 11... I'm sure that counts as sleeping in." She chuckled before turning around. She leaned in for another kiss, "But we can have another nap in the afternoon... and maybe a bath together in the evening."

"I would love that. Love you, Evie."

"Love you too, Jules."

Thoughtful Moment

Nathan stepped out of his car looking at Taji's house before taking a deep breath. Part of him had been quite surprised that she had remained in Maplewood after the holidays and that alone. It was a nice feeling to spend more time in her company though if he was honest he didn't quite know where they stood with each other. Nathan wanted to take it slow... take the time to find out if they had a future together despite all the years that they had been apart. Speaking about the reason why he had never answered any of her letters hadn't been easy but Nathan knew that it had helped to have a better understanding of each other.

His thoughts were interrupted by Taji stepping out of the door looking beautiful as always and for a moment his breath hitched. He might not know where they stood but he knew that they had time to figure it out.

"Hello," Nathan greeted Taji with a smile and a quick kiss on the cheek, "Are you ready for today?"

"With you? Certainly."

No worries, it won't hosted around Christmas again... this is a lesson I have definitely learned. My goal is Spring/Summer.
