My deepest apologies:
Chris has become a doctor because that was probably the most diffcult thing to do for him. And he likes being challeneged. It's surprisingly no noble reason of changing the world for the better.
Daniel, however, travelled around the world for a few years, working part-time jobs so he could pay for his travels, (un)luckily - along the way he met Claire in Berlin by accident and they decided to travel together, working part-time jobs and renting out apartments.
After they returned back home they continued being roomies until they find jobs that would afford their own condos.
They are still incredibly irritated by each other, but then again, he jumped in front of a car to push Claire out of the way and ended up in the hospital.
It seems they do care... I guess...
